Series of Triangles

The triangles create a mass three dimensional shape and are seen as a tangible object, but when the viewer closes their eyes and uses their heart they are able to “see” the relationships between the shapes, colors, and us. Beyond the physical relationship, new configurations and relationships come into existence, while many shapes are not fully connected they leave room for imagination and curiosity. In this series of paintings, refined primary shapes are used but they have a broken physical structure that differs from the preexisting concept in the viewer’s mind. The shapes’ appearances are reconfigured through scale variations, rhythm, brush techniques, and line differentiations that break preconceived concepts. There is mental analysis required for the viewer to deconstruct and separate then reconfigure and finally observe the new physical appearance with shape, color, and texture. Through using shade and shadow to compose and mimic a three dimensional space and depth, as well as geometric balance paired with interlockings, the viewer is able to look beyond the surface shapes and deeper into the variations and see the different meanings behind the composition.
